Newark New Jersey police located and arrested an East Orange man who allegedly committed brutal murders of three people, including his ex-girlfriend.
According to the Newark Police Department, the 27-year-old suspect fatally shot two Newark NJ residents, a 23-year-old female who the suspect used to date and her current boyfriend, a 28-year-old male. The victims reportedly lived together at a home on Clinton Place in Newark, NJ.
Newark law enforcement received word of gunshots fired and quickly dispatched officers to the residence. When police officers arrived at the scene of the domestic violence homicides, they came across three young children in the home. Thankfully, the kids were unharmed.
The suspect, who is from East Orange, New Jersey, is accused of committing another murder the following day. The suspect allegedly went to a home located on Stratford Place in Newark and killed a 21-year-old woman. The suspect reportedly strangled the victim and then left her body in a bathroom, lying on the side of the bathtub.
When police officers went to the residence, they found a five-month-old baby sitting in a closet. The child was not hurt.
Newark police were able to track down the suspect and place him under arrest. He was subsequently charged with three counts of murder, as well as one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The suspect faces severe penalties if he is convicted on any of the murder charges. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is a first degree felony and carries a potential punishment of life imprisonment, with a minimum mandatory term of incarceration of 30 years in New Jersey State Prison.
