Washington Township NJ Domestic Violence AttorneysA Washington Township NJ police officer who was arrested and charged with Driving while Intoxicated (DWI) in Pennsylvania was allegedly involved in a serious domestic violence incident prior to the drunk driving accident.

According to law enforcement, the Washington Township cop committed a number of acts that are “considered domestic violence.” The domestic violence reportedly occurred in Morris County NJ, which is why the case is being handled by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Morris County officials have not released details about the domestic violence because they want to shield the victim against unwanted media attention or scrutiny. However, a person affiliated with Morris County law enforcement did provide an anonymous comment to the media and said that the suspect had violated a restraining order.

The permanent restraining order was filed in June 2015 by the suspect’s wife, who claimed that her husband had a serious drinking problem and was causing “family issues.” One day later, the suspect was busted for a different DWI violation in Blairstown, New Jersey.

As a result of the suspect’s alleged restraining order violation, police were searching for him even before the DWI accident in Pennsylvania.

While driving in Hazleton PA, the suspect reportedly crashed his Nissan Armada SUV into several cars. He was eventually stopped by police at a roadblock.

After being arrested in connection with the domestic violence incident in New Jersey, the suspect was released and subsequently involved in a car accident on a roadway in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Moreover, it is believed by authorities that the suspect was highly intoxicated when he crashed into several vehicles on the roadway, including multiple cars that were parked next to the road.

The 45-year-old suspect, who lives in Great Meadows NJ, now faces multiple criminal charges in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. That’s because PA law classifies DWIs as crimes as opposed to traffic violations.

While the charges against the suspect remain pending, he has been suspended from his job with the Washington Township Police Department.
