Mount Olive Domestic Violence Homicide LawyersA woman who used to teach at a school located in Wharton New Jersey has been charged with murdering her ex-boyfriend at a Mount Olive NJ residence.

According to Morris County officials, the 53-year-old suspect shot and killed the victim, a 51-year-old male, on March 3, 2014.

The victim lived in Staten Island, New York. He reportedly went to the suspect’s home in Mount Olive, New Jersey so that he could end their relationship.

After allegedly murdering her ex-boyfriend, the suspect contacted the Mount Olive Police Department. Mount Olive police officers were dispatched to the house, where they saw the victim’s body.

An investigation quickly concluded that the suspect was responsible for the victim’s death, so she was placed under arrest and charged with first degree murder.

Now the suspect appears to be headed to trial in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown NJ.

The suspect’s legal counsel has indicated that she will be claiming self-defense in the homicide. The suspect’s lawyers told the media that the suspect was a victim of domestic violence and that the homicide victim had attacked her prior to the shooting.

The suspect’s legal team specifically pointed to prior acts of domestic violence by the suspect; however, there does not appear to be any documented history of domestic violence being committing against the suspect.

Moreover, there is no record of the suspect ever seeking, or obtaining, a restraining order against the murder victim.

Next month, there will be an evidence admissibility hearing in Morris County Superior Court. The suspect is likely to contest the admissibility of certain statements that she allegedly made to Mount Olive police officers in the immediate aftermath of the homicide.
